An authentic farmhouse with typical features such as arched rooms, mangers and exposed stone walls tucked away close to the village centre, so within easy reach of restaurants, bars and shops.
It has been recently renovated with a refurbished kitchen, new utility room, new heated shower rooms, air-conditioning and a wood-burning stove for the colder months.
You approach the property through a private gate through to a walkway with overhanging bougainvillea leading to a traditional courtyard which in turn leads to a spacious terrace area, large swimming pool with shower and garden beyond with outreaching views of the Citadel and Xewkija church.
Downstairs the kitchen/dining room opens into a large living room with an arched doorway opening onto a shaded outside dining area. An inner hallway which is currently in use as an office leads to two double bedrooms both with en-suites, one of which has a door opening onto a side garden.
All the bathrooms feature classic style chrome shower fittings imported from the UK and traditional radiator towel rails. All the showers feature traditional encaustic tiles again
imported from the UK.
Outside traditional stone stairs take you to a third double bedroom with traditional Maltese tiles and refurbished en-suite shower, and a large roof terrace overlooking the garden with views of the Citadel.
There is scope for extending the accommodation at this level to create a further two
bedrooms, an elevated lounge, or an artist’s studio.
On one side of the courtyard is the fourth bedroom, also with en-suite shower, and an adjacent utility room with washing machine and toilet.
The delightful well-maintained garden is packed with mature examples including palm tree, olives, Strelitzia (bird of paradise), bougainvillea, aloe and oleander and has two wells one of which is used as a pool reservoir. Extensive work has been done to renew all the terracing and area around the pool, and rebuilt stone walls all around the garden.
A raised garden beside the pool offers welcome shade and steps below it descend to another unusual feature, a large cave below the garden extending some eighteen metres with a new attractive bridge that was built to connect the two areas.
The house is equipped with new air-conditioning in all the bedrooms and living space area and broadband.
