A total of 13,300 properties changed hands last year

Just over 13,300 properties were sold throughout 2025, a 6% rise over the previous year, according to new figures published by the National Statistics Office.
According to the figures, a total of 13,339 final deeds, worth €3.97 billion, were signed throughout the year. This was 741 more than the 12,598 deeds signed in 2024.
Property sales throughout the month of December were 5% higher than the same month the previous year, NSO said.
The most popular locality for property sales in 2025 was, by some distance, St Paul’s Bay, where a little over 1,000 properties were sold.
The only other towns to top the 500 mark were Mosta, Marsascala and Birkirkara.
Meanwhile, a little under 1,700 properties were sold in the entirety of Gozo throughout the year, with the capital of Xagħra being the most popular spot.
The number of promise of sales registered in 2025 also received a strong bump in 2025, rising from 13,500 in 2024 to 14,500 last year.
Again, St Paul’s Bay is by far the most popular locality, with 1,267 promise of sale agreements signed for properties in the town.
Several other towns, including Żabbar, Qormi, Sliema, Mosta and Marsascala also saw relatively large numbers of properties signed off for an eventual sale.
This 6% rise in promise of sales last year is lower than figures cited by the developers’ lobby, which last week said promise of sales had risen by seven per cent, with over 16,600 deals signed in 2025.
Unlike MDA’s figures, which estimated the deals at a value of almost €6 billon, NSO’s data does not estimate the monetary value of the promise of sales signed.
